Thailand, Laos; funk, jazz, psych, it all goes.

Soundway's anthology is probably the best entrance point.

This is collection of Thai Lao Morlam songs sung by two top singers Mr. Sathit Thornchan and Ms. Duan Penn. In '97 I toured & lived with superstar singer Ms. Jintara Punlarp used to play 30 shows a month mostly at remote temples all over Isaan. 50 dancers, 15 piece band about 10 other singers and a few 'Talok' comedians. nightly shows were from 9pm to 2 a.m. Then we drove in our funky old bus no fans, no a/c and four trucks carrying all our equipment for 10+ hours to next remote temple. we slept on the floors of a different temple each morning until the next show that evening.
